AAPAC Receives 2022 Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre

As announced by Playbill and many other outlets on May 6, 2022, the Asian American performers Action Coalition (AAPAC) received a 2022 Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre.

AAPAC was honored for its work to expand the perception of Asian American performers to increase access and representation, including the annual Visibility Report that tracks employment statistics on NYC stages by race.

AAPAC was joined by four other contributors to the Broadway industry -- Broadway For All; music copyist Emily Grishman; Feinstein’s/54 Below; and United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE.

The Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre were established in 1990 and are awarded annually to institutions, individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theatre, but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories.

For more about these awards, visit Tony Awards website, the Playbill press release article, and the Hollywood Reporter June 12, 2022 interview with Pun Bandhu and Christine Toy Johnton.
